“Falling Apart”: When a Dream Hurts More Than Reality

It started with a dream that didn’t feel like a dream. A moment so vivid, so emotionally shattering, that waking up didn’t bring relief—only confusion. Falling Apart, the latest single by Undergone, emerges from that space between sleep and consciousness, transforming private pain into haunting sound. It’s not just a song—it’s a memory, a nightmare, and a confession.

The lyrics were written three years ago in the private journal of Wiktoria, the band’s vocalist. At the time, the music didn’t exist. What did exist were nights marked by derealization, emotional numbness, and dreams that blurred the boundaries of reality. Falling Apart was born from one of those nights—a dream so disturbingly real, it lingered long after she woke.

In it, Wiktoria looked out her window and saw something she’ll never forget: a girl she recognized from the building across the street, someone she knew was struggling, stepped off a balcony and fell. Paralyzed, Wiktoria ran outside, only to find herself in a silent crowd, motionless and shocked, staring at the aftermath. The weight of that image stayed with her. When she woke up, she couldn’t immediately tell if it had truly happened. That disorientation—raw, surreal, terrifying—is what pulses through every line of the song.

Musically, Falling Apart mirrors the emotional arc of that nightmare. It opens with a foggy, dreamlike atmosphere that pulls the listener into the story. The first verse sets the scene—the fractured life of the girl and the unspoken tension in the air. Then comes the turning point: a distorted, noise-heavy guitar solo that captures the impact of the fall. The second verse unravels in the aftermath, reflecting the confusion and emotional collapse that follow trauma, when nothing feels real anymore.

The artwork accompanying the single is as personal as the music. It features a scan of the actual diary page where the lyrics were first written, surrounded by scattered eyes—symbols of perception, distorted awareness, and the silent weight of watching something you can’t forget. Like the song, the cover is chaotic, overwhelming, and honest.

Undergone will debut Falling Apart live on May 16 at Komin Club in Sosnowiec, where the audience will hear, and feel, the full weight of a nightmare made music.

This isn’t just a song. It’s a moment frozen in time. A dream that still echoes. And now, it belongs to all of us.
