Lodo: Where Mud Turns Into Music

Sometimes music starts in the craziest places. That's how Lodo, a band from New York's Hudson Valley, started – just friends hanging out. Back in the winter of 2023, Wyatt, Tommy, and James just started jamming with no big expectations. But what started as just messing around quickly turned into something real; they knew they had something special. Soon after, Ashley joined in with her flute, and the spark became a flame.

Lodo's music is kinda like it's alive. Sometimes it's super chill, like a whisper; other times, it's loud and heavy like a storm. It's that push and pull – between being still and going wild – that makes them strong. Each song is like its own thing, where being open meets letting go, and being fragile meets being raw. Listening to Lodo feels like walking barefoot in the mud; every step feels good, and every sound feels real.

In less than a year, their first album just came together. What started as just home recordings turned into a thing that's not about being perfect, but being real. With help from Bram at Sempervirens Studio, the record came to life, keeping that raw energy from when they first got together. It's a real picture of when four people realized they could make something that's bigger than just themselves.

Their name, Lodo – which is Spanish for mud – says it all. Mud isn't clean, but it makes things grow; it's where life starts, where roots grow, and where things change. That's how the band sees things: embrace being imperfect, value feeling over how things look, and feeling over labels. Lodo isn't trying to fit in; they're making a place where music is free, raw, and honest, like the ground after it rains.

What makes Lodo awesome is how much fun they have. They love being together, playing without rules, and surprising themselves while they're at it. They're lighthearted but also deep, funny but also open. Listening to Lodo is like being invited to get muddy with them, to step into that world where every note feels alive. In a world that always wants things perfect, Lodo reminds us that real beauty is about letting go, sinking in, getting messy, and seeing that even from mud, beautiful things can grow.
